The decision to end a relationship is not sudden. Before, during
and after divorce, "the best interest of the child" is often filled
with competing emotions and concerns.
Research shows that children who live with parental conflict often can
have problems adjusting to the demands of day-to-day life. And the
effect on children can be seen immediately, or take years
to arrive.
Even when parents live apart, they can still remain close to their children.
Washtenaw County has a number of excellent programs for parents, and for their children, as they confront the issues surrounding separation, divorce and custody challenges. This web site pulls together information on the programming and resources of six local public or non-profit agencies, as well as links to many other helpful sites.
